Year 12 students at Newcastle Sixth Form College have been developing their creative and technical skills through the Film Production Enrichment Programme.

The enrichment introduces students to the full range of roles involved in a film production, including producer, director, screenwriter and photographer/videographer. By exploring each role, students gain a deeper understanding of how collaboration and planning are essential to creating a successful production, as well as the responsibilities involved at every stage of the process.

Students have also learnt how to plan their ideas effectively, beginning with the creation of storyboards to visualise scenes before filming takes place. A key focus of the enrichment has been understanding how creative choices impact storytelling, particularly how camera angles, shot types and music can influence the mood of a scene and help convey meaning to the audience.

Through practical activities and creative exploration, the Film Production Enrichment allows students to develop confidence, teamwork and communication skills, while gaining valuable insight into the filmmaking process from initial concept through to final production.
