More than 200 students had the exciting opportunity to visit Newcastle University yesterday as part of a Sociology trip.
The day began with a comprehensive introduction to Newcastle University and its wide range of courses. This was followed by an in-depth look at sociology, where students learned about the wide array of modules, the different types of assessment methods, and the extracurricular opportunities on offer.
The highlight of the trip was a captivating taster lecture by Dr. Karenza Moore. Students explored intriguing concepts such as how research can drive changes in policy and practice, the dynamics of deviance and the power to define "outsiders," and sociological perspectives on youth leisure spaces.
To round off the day, students enjoyed a guided tour of the university's state-of-the-art campus, led by student ambassadors. This provided our students with a fantastic opportunity to gain first-hand insights into life as a higher education student.
A huge thank you to Newcastle University for hosting us and providing such an informative day for our Year 12 students. For some, this was their first time on a university campus, making it an exciting and invaluable experience at this stage of their A Level journey.
