Newcastle Sixth Form College was delighted to welcome back former student Jaz Waddington, who is now thriving in a BBC apprenticeship. Speaking to a group of Film Studies, Media Studies, and Music Technology students, she shared how her time at NSFC helped her develop the skills and confidence needed to secure this incredible opportunity. Reflecting on her journey, she highlighted the importance of hard work, networking, and gaining practical experience while studying.
During her talk, Jaz gave students a fascinating insight into her current role at the BBC, explaining the hands-on work she is involved in and how it is helping her develop a career in the media industry. She also spoke about the challenges she has faced and how she overcame them, offering realistic and inspiring advice for those hoping to follow a similar path.
Emphasising the importance of passion and taking advantage of every opportunity, she encouraged students to build a strong portfolio, gain as much experience as possible, and remain passionate about their chosen field. Her visit left students feeling motivated and excited about the possibilities that await them after NSFC.
